An Insurmountable Obstacle May Just be a Shadow

If you've been reading my blog for at least a few weeks, you may remember my post about my aunt telling me I owe her money for some taxes she paid on my grandparents' estate, from which I received an unexpected inheritance after their passing.
(You can read that blog post here if you're interested:  http://beyouliveyourdream.blogspot.com/2013/04/not-feeling-love.html )

I had thought all my responsibilities regarding this money were taken care of.  I had paid my share of the lawyer's fees to settle the estate.  I had paid my own taxes.  I thought it was all done.  Then I get my aunt's text saying she doesn't know what the amount is, but she'll let me know what "my share" is once again, for these taxes.

Immediately I felt stressed.  In fact, I felt stressed over it for two days.  I was stressed over the fact that I didn't know how much she expected me to pay.  The unknown can be stressful at times.

Well, I finally heard back from my aunt regarding the amount I "owed her."  Turns out it was just ninety-eight dollars and some cents.  $98.  Nothing to get worked up over.

In my fear of the unknown, I was expecting her to tell me I owed thousands.  But the actual amount was less than a hundred dollars.

When she told me the amount, I saw how silly I had been to freak out before.  I saw how I had let fear completely take over and run the show.

I had made a mountain out of a molehill.  I was focusing on the shadow, and living in fear, instead of just letting it be and seeing it for what it really is.

It was another lesson for me to just let things be.  Relax and let things unfold.  Trust the Universe.  Know it won't give me anything I can't handle.

After all, why stress out over something that's not even here?  That may never be here?  Why borrow stress and worry from a perceived future event?  It's silly.  It's pointless.  It's not living in love.

This happens in relationships all the time.  People assume someone else will react or behave a certain way to an upcoming event or situation, so they base their own actions on that expected future behavior.  That may or may not even happen the way they expect.  Chances are, it won't happen as we expect.

Or people are afraid to tell someone something, in fear of how they think they'll respond, or what they think the other person will think of them.

Stop thinking so much!  The ego lives in the mind.  When our thoughts get so wrapped around a certain thing, obsessing over it, stressing over it... it's our ego that's freaking out.

If you get still, take a few deep breaths, and focus on your inner spirit, you'll find that it is not freaking out.  It is as calm as ever.  Because the Spirit is love.  And everything is love.

Generally speaking, we humans think too much.  We plan, analyze, try to figure stuff out.

Stop.

Just be present.  What's here, right now?  Are you ok?  Most likely, especially if you're reading this, you have everything you need right now.  Revel in that.  The Universe is providing for you.

My favorite "go-to" affirmation is this:

I'm so happy and grateful now that all my needs and wants are met, I receive with gladness from the Universe, I am prosperous and healthy!

I've said that affirmation so many times in the past couple of years.  At times I've leaned on more "specialized" affirmations, specifically geared towards relationships, work, money, etc.  But I always go back to that one eventually.  It's a catch-all.

"All my needs and wants are met."  It's true.  It probably is for you when you stop and think about it.

This reminds me of a part I read from Wayne Dyer's book, "Excuses Begone" last night.

From page 204, he writes, "Practice the process of envisioning precisely what your life would look and feel like if it were impossible to enlist your excuse pattern.  A good way to begin is by getting accustomed to visualizing exactly who you are, as if you've already arrived."

He later writes on that same page, "For all intents and purposes, what you actively imagine is authentically and undeniably already here, so you can change from self-defeating excuses to self-enhancing actions."

Who you want to be, what you want to do... it's already here.  You already are that person.  How powerful is that?!

So instead of acting from a place of want and not having... act from that place of already having and already being who you strive to be in your wildest dreams.  That is how those dreams come true.  How those dreams become reality.

They're already here.  You just have to see it.

I'd like to share one more quote from this book that made an impact on me.  It's actually from Ralph Waldo Emerson, who Wayne Dyer quoted... "Imagination is a very high sort of seeing."

Truly, what you imagine, you can become.

See it.

Then go live it!

  1. Thank you Sarah this is exactly what I need right now. I had a tough week and feel discouraged, wondering why I am here. I like the Wayne Dyer quotes you included in this blog, reminding me to focus my energy on my highest good, which is already HERE ... instead of focusing on how miserable I feel because of present circumstances. Keep on writing, lady! You have a gift.
